3.05: Carson Wentz, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

Drafter Comments

"The third round is where I start to feel comfortable investing in this year's quarterback class. Wentz has the luxury of sitting behind a highly-paid starter in Sam Bradford ($12.5 million cap hit) while learning Doug Pederson's offense. Wentz' experience at the FCS level is a knock against him, but he has the tools, athleticism, and physical build to develop into a legitamite starter in the National Football League." -- Tyler Buecher

Other Comments

"Wentz was my top-rated signal-caller pre-draft, but now I feel as though he's in such a terrible situation that I would be afraid to select him at all. Simply put: the Eagles are a mess. They replaced fast-paced offensive head coach Chip Kelly with slow, run-heavy Doug Pederson, and then proceeded to have one of the most baffling offseasons I've ever seen at the quarterback position. The team spent combined 56 million dollars on Bradford and Chase Daniel before spending a fortune King Midas would be jealous of to move up in the draft to select Wentz. I have reservations about drafting a player mired in such calamity, so I am probably staying away this summer." -- Anthony Amico
