Fantasy Football 2016 Rookie Mock Draft: Round 3
3.08: Keyarris Garrett, WR, Carolina Panthers
Drafter Comments
"Without Kelvin Benjamin, the Panthers relied on now 31-year-old Ted Ginn Jr. to be their number-one receiver for most of last season, and then they didn't draft anyone at the position. At 6'4" and over 200 pounds, the Panthers now have another towering receiver to go along with Benjamin and Devin Funchess. Garrett went over 200 receiving yards twice last season, and proved to be a consistent receiver -- he had four or more catches in all but one game and only two games under 70 receiving yards. He also showed significant improvement in his receiving, dropping only three of his 99 catchable passes in 2015, compared to eight drops on 55 catchable passes the previous year." - Barry Cohen
Other Comments
"I was really surprised to see Garrett go undrafted this spring. It may not have been a bad thing for his career, however, as it allowed him to have more say over his destination. I really like him in Carolina. The Panthers were so desperate for playmakers last year, Ted Ginn started. Garrett has ideal size, but he doesn't play up to it. He's just a deep-ball guy right now who lacks crispness in his routes, but with his frame, he could be a real weapon if he refines his game." - Austan Kas
"Garrett was a huge favorite of the #DraftTwitter community, so it was a big surprise when he went undrafted. However, the NFL has certainly shown a huge bias towards smaller school players in the past (see Mike Thomas not even receiving a Combine invite), and I'm not ready to count him out to have a splendid career. He was a bigger part of his team's offense in college than Benjamin with respect to market share of yards, and he was a better downfield threat than Funchess. He can absolutely carve himself out a role for a Panthers team that threw for 35 touchdowns in 2015. " -- Anthony Amico
