4 NFL FanDuel Stacks for Week 10
If you're new to daily fantasy football, then you'll have to make some changes to your fantasy football strategy. You don't have "your guys" on a weekly basis -- and you need to adjust to each and every matchup.
A big part of building your roster is weekly quarterback selection. In terms of salary, passers range from the top of the player pool to the bottom, with some replacement-level passers at the same price point as kickers and defenses on FanDuel.
Along with those quarterbacks, though, you have the option of pairing pass-catchers with your signal caller, and per 4for4's TJ Hernandez, a quarterback's top receiver has a moderately strong correlation to the quarterback's performance -- and his tight end and second receiver aren't too far behind.
If you're going to stack, though, you need to have a purpose. If you're trying to win a big tournament, you'll want to find a combination that can put up points in bunches -- all while possibly being under-owned. Which teammates might fit the bill in Week 10 on FanDuel's main slate?
New England Patriots
QB: Tom Brady ($8,300)
TE: Rob Gronkowski ($8,000)
The Seattle Seahawks aren't what they used to be defensively, and there isn't any reason to avoid the New England Patriots' star duo here. Hopefully, their ownership will be bogged down by perception. It's not like they're awful or anything -- Seattle does rank fifth against fantasy quarterbacks, per our DFS tools, and eighth against tight ends.
However, they've allowed three of their past four opposing quarterbacks to top 20 fantasy points and haven't faced a top-tier tight end all season. They'll be without Michael Bennett, too. New England is a 7.5-point favorite with a 28.25-point implied team total, the second-best implied total on the slate.
Pittsburgh Steelers
QB: Ben Roethlisberger ($7,700)
WR: Antonio Brown ($8,600)
It's quite likely that Brown will be the most popular wide receiver of the main slate, as he's priced at just $8,600. He was priced below this mark just two weeks last year on FanDuel. This is the cheapest he's been all season in 2016, too. Morris Claiborne is out for a few weeks, and the Pittsburgh Steelers historically play faster at home than they do on the road. This matters because the Dallas Cowboys are 27th in situation-neutral pace, per Football Outsiders.
This game has the highest over/under of the week at 50 points (well, it's tied with the Atlanta Falcons-Philadelphia Eagles game), and rostering Ben Roethlisberger with Brown will help alleviate ownership concerns, as there are plenty of quarterbacks in promising spots this week.
Denver Broncos
QB: Trevor Siemian ($7,200)
WR: Emmanuel Sanders ($6,900)
Last week, Sanders burned those who rostered him, and it's not really a one-time thing. He has scored more than 9 FanDuel points just twice in his past six games and hasn't surpassed 11.5 in any of those. However, he had 11 targets last week and 10 the week before.
He and the Denver Broncos face the New Orleans Saints in Week 10. By our metrics, they're the worst pass defense on the main slate. Sanders leads the NFL in red zone targets with 19, and he also has 13 targets from inside the 10. He's the only player with more than nine targets from that range, and only four have more than six.
As for Siemian, well, the Saints are 25th against fantasy passers, per our DFS tools, and as a 2.5-point underdog, he should be passing to keep it close but not playing from too far behind in a bad game script.
Arizona Cardinals
QB: Carson Palmer ($7,900)
WR: J.J. Nelson ($5,600)
This is a straight game-theory stack, as the Arizona Cardinals' running back, David Johnson, should be pushing ownership levels of 40% or more. He's $9,400 against a San Francisco 49ers team that can't stop any running back, and the Cards are a 13.5-point favorite. Well, in a large tournament, you can try to roster his quarterback and a receiver. And it's not that crazy, really.
The 49ers are 23rd against quarterbacks, per our DFS tools, and nobody is going to spend $7,900 on Palmer as a two-touchdown favorite (which is the smart move based on historical Vegas trends).
In Week 8 -- Arizona's most recent game -- Nelson played 92% of the snaps and drew 12 targets, and he has been named a starter by head coach Bruce Arians. At this price and knowing his running back will be owned by nearly half the field, a Palmer-Nelson connection could really separate your team from the rest of the pack in a big tournament.
