4 Daily Fantasy Football Tournament Dart Throws for Week 15

Every week in DFS, there is a player who comes out of nowhere to be the slate-breaker. These seemingly incognito players can be game-changers if you manage to roster them during the right week.

Tournament-only fliers have plenty of appeal, offering low ownership, below value pricing, cheap stacking options, roster flexibility and underrated ceilings. The purpose of this article is to identify dart throws to take your shots on during the main slate on FanDuel.

Gardner Minshew, Jacksonville Jaguars

FanDuel Salary: $6,900

Gardner Minshew is a charter member of the Dart Throw Team, having appeared in this article multiple times this season. With an oh-so-nice price of $6,900, it’s going to be hard to resist the mustachioed man. His dirt cheap price makes him the fourth cheapest quarterback on the main slate, but he has a top-10 points projection, per our models.

Although D.J. Chark might miss the game, the Jacksonville Jaguars' offense is in an enviable position as they take on a porous Oakland Raiders defense, one that ranks 31st against the quarterback position. Oakland has given up more than 300 yards passing in two out of their last three outings, including a 391-yard, three-touchdown performance last week to Ryan Tannehill. It's no surprise then that passers facing Jacksonville rank fourth in yards per attempt.

Against a weak secondary and possibly without Chark, the Jags will be easy to stack, especially at wide receiver given their cheap prices. Minshew makes for a nice dart throw who shouldn't see much ownership in Week 15.

Danny Amendola, WR, Detroit Lions

FanDuel Salary: $5,400

Marvin Jones is heading to the IR, causing a seismic shift in the Detroit Lions' pass-catching totem pole. Danny Amendola is too cheap to pass up at only $5,400, and he will look to reap the benefits of his teammate vacating a 20.2% target share. The Lions' slot receiver has already been actively involved in the passing game, having tallied eight targets in back-to-back outings with David Blough under center.

In his third career start, Blough will face off with a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that has consistently been obliterated by opposing passers. Wideouts going up against the terrible Tampa secondary (dead last against the position) have scored seven receiving touchdowns over the past five games. The Bucs have also allowed opposing pass catchers to hit their ceiling consistently as the leading fantasy receiver versus Detroit in each of the past five games has averaged the overall WR1 in PPR scoring.

Duke Johnson, RB, Houston Texans

FanDuel Salary: $5,700

Pass-catching scatbacks have made a decent living playing against the Tennessee Titans, who rank 29th against RB2s. The Titans ranks inside the top 12 in most receiving yards and receptions (five per game) allowed to backs, which sets up nicely for Duke Johnson. The Duke has vacuumed in 11 receptions over the past two games.

The division bout between the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans has a chance to be a shootout with a slate high 50.0-point over/under. The Texans are coming off an embarrassing blowout to the Denver Broncos, and anecdotal as it may be, both teams will be scratching and clawing for their playoff livelihood. Attacking shootouts with ancillary pieces is the way to go in tourneys, and Duke's $5,700 price allows for cheap exposure with extra roster flexibility.

Jonnu Smith, TE, Tennessee Titans

FanDuel Salary: $4,900

Seeing Jonnu Smith have his first TE1 (top-12) week of the season last week was good news for those of you who read this article. He ran his second most routes of the season and saw a season high two red zone targets. Smith made for a perfect dart throw last week due to injury replacement, low cost, low ownership, and a surging offense. All the factors that made Jonnu a strong pick last week have materialized once again in Week 15, including a surprisingly low price of only $4,900.

The Houston Texans enjoy funneling fantasy production to the tight end position, and Smith presents a frugal roster option in an easy matchup. Tight ends lining up opposite of Houston have averaged a weekly TE4 overall performance over the Texans' last five games. This includes allowing the most yards, second most yards per reception, and most yards after catch. As a 93rd percentile SPARQ athlete with an upper-80th percentile speed and burst score, per PlayerProfiler, Smith will look to capitalize on his pristine athleticism and matchup.
