Giants' Daniel Jones diagnosed with torn ACL
New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's 30-6, Week 9 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Jones will miss the rest of the season. Tyrod Taylor (ribs) is still on injured reserve for three more games, so undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito is expected to start in Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys. He completed 15 of 20 pass attempts for 175 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions in relief on Sunday. Matt Barkley will likely be called up from the practice squad to be DeVito's backup, but the Giants may also bring in outside help.
Jones completed 108 of 160 pass attempts for 909 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions in six games this season. He also rushed 40 times for 206 yards and a touchdown, with 4 fumbles (1 lost). Jones averaged negative-0.27 Passing Net Expected Points per attempt, which ranks last among all quarterbacks with 100-plus throws this season. DeVito has averaged negative-0.50 Passing NEP on 27 attempts.
