Carlos Frias, Los Angeles Dodgers

Yahoo Ownership: 8%

Carlos Frias gets the nod twice this week on the mound, but his value as a streamer comes on the road against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. The Giants have scored the second fewest runs at home this season and are victims of playing in a home park that does not allow many home runs. Through 20 games, San Francisco averages 0.5 long balls, worst in the Majors. Frias has allowed one home run in 16.1 innings pitched since joining the rotation May 1.

The Giants’ 1.10 groundball-to-fly ball ratio is the third highest in baseball, and the offense’s 15 double plays hit into is tied for eighth most, perfect for a pitcher like Frias who has induced 31 groundouts out of 49 total outs. Not bad for a pitcher who was originally called up to take a spot in the Dodgers’ depleted bullpen.

San Diego is a good enough team at home that Frias is not the best streamer option over the weekend. In the major categories, San Diego is within the middle of the pack, so the risk versus reward may be too much for some.
