5 Wide Receivers Being Selected Too Early in Fantasy Football Drafts
John Brown, Arizona Cardinals
ADP: WR30
numberFire: WR38
Speaking of the Cardinals, “Smokey” John Brown is also getting overdrafted by some owners. It appears that the confidence in head coach Bruce Arians’ offensive prowess is blinding some folks to some of the simpler mathematical realities in play. For instance, Brown is the only wide receiver projected for fewer than 150 half-PPR points currently going in the top-30 wideouts in fantasy drafts. The diminutive slot receiver earned over 1,000 yards receiving yards on just 65 receptions in 2015, a feat that just 15 other receivers have achieved over the past decade.
In addition, Brown has hardly practiced this offseason due to a concussion he sustained in spring practices. Without the time to get back in sync with his offense, there’s a good chance that Brown falls in the receiving pecking order. With only 101 targets in 2015, it’s not like he can afford to lose more work in this coming season, if he’s going to deliver on fantasy players’ faith. Brown has a lot of red flags, and is worth avoiding at his current price.
