Davon House, Cornerback

Defensive backs – and cornerbacks in particular – are notoriously fickle on a week-to-week basis. In fact, I always recommend you draft most of them (if you have to) in the last rounds of your IDP drafts and treat them like the kickers of the defense: stream, stream, stream. Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Davon House isn’t a particularly stellar coverage corner, but he should see plenty of action this week against the Green Bay Packers, and primarily against wide receiver Jordy Nelson. If Nelson is back and healthy, he will likely earn the lion’s share of targets from this Green Bay offense. Nelson has averaged 7.43 targets per game over the last five years, meaning House will have his hands full.

House allows a lot of catches in his area, and that means plenty of tackle opportunities for him. With Nelson likely to line up on his side of the field most of the game, he’ll have as many chances as he can handle to drag him down after the catch. Don’t bet on an interception, though; it’s still Aaron Rodgers at quarterback.

House is available in 94.8% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project him for 4.32 tackles, 0.40 interceptions, 1.16 passes defended, and a total score of 8.32 fantasy points in Week 1.
