Devonta Freeman, RB, Atlanta Falcons

FanDuel Price: $7,400
Salary Change: Down $700

Many fantasy owners in season-long leagues held high expectations for Devonta Freeman in 2016. In most redraft leagues, he was taken in the second round as a low-end RB1 or high-end RB2. But a worst-case scenario played out in Week 1, as he barely played more than second year running back Tevin Coleman -- 36 snaps for Freeman and 32 for Coleman -- and only received two more touches.

Freeman was supposed to be a safe bet with a high floor because of his usage in the passing game, but that didn’t happen last week. Coleman recorded five receptions for a team-high 95 yards and showed off his much improved receiving ability against the Buccaneers:

It’s now Week 2 and we’ve seen Freeman’s FanDuel salary drop $700 to $7,400, but there are two reasons to be optimistic. For one, the Vegas total in the Falcons' contest has moved 2.5 points from its opener of 47 to 49.5 this morning -- no small move for the Falcons’ road matchup with Oakland.

Second, we need touchdown upside to win tournaments and Freeman still has it. Last week, Freeman saw six red zone opportunities -- rushing attempts plus targets -- compared to just one for Coleman. Freeman is going to be highly used in the red zone this week, and with a likely low ownership after his meager production and time share situation a week ago, he’s an excellent tournament play.
