Ricardo Allen, Free Safety

When two big-time passing offenses square off against one another, defensive backs are the big-time beneficiaries in IDP leagues. Both the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints are above a 1.51 pass-to-run playcalling ratio through two weeks, the Saints especially (2.54, tied for second-most). The Saints’ defense is absolutely abhorrent, and so they will likely have to keep throwing to stay in games this season. Giants’ free safety Darian Thompson picked up four total tackles in Week 2 against them.

This is good news for Falcons free safety Ricardo Allen, who is reprising his role as the single-high safety valve in head coach Dan Quinn’s defense. With first-round rookie safety Keanu Neal working the second-string right now and weak-side linebacker De'Vondre Campbell injured, there is little danger that Allen’s volume of tackles evaporates any time soon. He has 14 total tackles through two weeks of the season.

Allen is available in 100.0% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project him for 5.67 tackles, 0.10 interceptions, 0.12 passes defended, and a total score of 6.67 fantasy points in Week 3.
