Kansas City Chiefs

Top Needs: WR, IOL, DE, DT

The Kansas City Chiefs have put themselves into playoff contention once more with a strong defense, but even this stalwart unit was just 18th-best against the run by Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play. Nose tackle Dontari Poe is a shell of his former self, and defensive ends Allen Bailey and Jaye Howard are average at best.

This offense needs a downfield presence to take them to the next level. Part of that falls on quarterback Alex Smith, but the wide receiver group put up the fifth-worst Reception NEP per target in the league. If Jeremy Maclin and Chris Conley can’t get it done, the Chiefs have to address that.

What will continue to mask the offensive deficiencies for now is adding road graders to the interior offensive line. The Chiefs had only the 18th-highest Rushing Success Rate in the league in 2016 and need to get more push for the rushing attack.
