The Jaguars Lead the NFL With 34.5 Rushing Attempts per Game

Last season, the Jacksonville Jaguars were the 7th-most pass-heavy team, with 62.74% of their total plays being pass plays. This season, just 47.73% of their plays have been of the passing variety, the 2nd-lowest percentage of any team in the league, ahead of only the Buffalo Bills. That 15.01% decrease is 3.42% more than any other team swung in either direction from last season.

Jacksonville is averaging at least one more rushing attempt per game than any other team this season, and 10 more rushing attempts per game than they did in 2016.

That has led the Jaguars to an average of 148.8 rushing yards per game, trailing only the Kansas City Chiefs (163.5). That's 46.9 more yards per game than their average of 101.9 rushing yards per game last season.

This run-heavy approach comes after they selected Leonard Fournette with the fourth overall pick in this year's draft. He leads the team with 58.70% of their carries, and is tied for 7th in the NFL with an average of 71.2 yards per game.

Against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 5, we project Fournette for 15.73 carries, 69.37 yards, and 0.42 touchdowns, totaling 13.0 FanDuel points.
