Atlanta Falcons' Passing Offense

With all the Bell praise done, we can go back to our theme: passing offenses that are heavily-favored. The Atlanta Falcons are at home off a bye to face arguably the worst team in football. They could just blast the Miami Dolphins out of the building.

The Dolphins enter this week ranked 24th against the pass, per numberFire's metrics. That's bad, but it's also a bit misleading. Most efficiency metrics will be when you're coming off a date with Matt Cassel.

Prior to that, Philip Rivers, Josh McCown, and Drew Brees combined to average 0.43 Passing NEP per drop back and a 55.14% Success Rate against this Miami defense. The league leaders in those two metrics this year are at 0.33 and 52.57%, respectively. Matchups with Cassel have a tendency to mask a whole lotta issues, but in the other three games, this defense has been simply abysmal.

This week will be a wee bit different for the Dolphins. Despite a somewhat sluggish start and multiple injuries, the Falcons are still the 11th-best passing offense through their first four games. Now, they've had a full week to get their assets healthy, and the matchup is far tastier. They're back on our radars.

If we're going to go with the Falcons, though, we need to make sure Julio Jones is ready to go. His absence would lower the value of the entire rest of the team, so we can't invest if he's still banged up. It seems like he should be okay, though.

With Jones getting in a limited session on Wednesday, he's trending toward suiting up on Sunday. It's also worth noting that tackle Ryan Schraeder -- who has missed the past two games with a concussion -- was a full participant. Things are perking up for this offense.

Because the Falcons' offense has been merely above average to start the year, you're getting some decent discounts. Ryan is $8,100 on FanDuel -- down from $8,500 in the opener -- and Jones is $8,400, a dip of $600. If you've still got concerns here, some friendlier price tags should help quell those a bit.

If you decide Jones' dings and dents are too much for you to swallow, you could consider Taylor Gabriel, who is $5,800. With Jones and Mohamed Sanu missing the second half against the Buffalo Bills, Gabriel's snap rate spiked up to 80%, and he could see a similar number this week with Sanu likely out. Given Gabriel's speed and propensity for big plays, that's high enough to give him a look.

This isn't to say you should avoid Devonta Freeman by any means. The Dolphins have been great against the rush thus far, but matchups are secondary when you're as automatic as Freeman at home as a big favorite. You should have exposure to him, as well. Just don't overlook the team's passing offense in the process.
