Start Stephen Gostkowski as a Favorite

Our own Jim Sannes wrote a very useful article on how kickers performed based on measures such as Vegas spreads, implied totals, and favorites versus underdogs. Based on his findings, we need to target kickers on heavily-favored teams, with implied team total as the tiebreaker.

In Week 7, the New England Patriots are favored by three points against the Atlanta Falcons. The Pats have the highest implied total of the weekend at 29.5 points, which should lead to a good outing for Stephen Gostkowski.

According to Sannes, kickers are on teams with an implied total of 27.00 to 29.75 points scored an average of 8.64 fantasy points. The over/under in this game is 56 points, which is at least a touchdown higher than the second-highest game.

Gostkowski is expensive ($5,100 on FanDuel) but does possess that top-kicker upside. If you have extra money left over, feel confident in spending up for him.
