5 NFL Stats to Know Through Week 4
Alvin Kamara has 136.10 Fantasy Points After Four Games
Another week, another milestone for New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara.
Kamara rushed 19 times for 134 yards and 3 touchdowns in his sides victory over the New York Giants on Sunday, adding 5 catches for another 47 yards. These numbers helped him to amass 41.1 fantasy points (PPR scoring), and that was his second time with at least 40 points in four games this year. Todd Gurley had two games with at least 40 PPR points in 2017, but they came across 15 games. No running back has had more than two 40-plus point games since 2006, when Ladainian Tomlinson had five and Steven Jackson had three.
After four weeks of the season, Kamara has a total of 136.10 PPR points. This is the most of any player in the opening four weeks of a season since 1950 (I'm not sure how many people were playing PPR back in the 50s, but still), surpassing the previous record of 133.50, set by Wes Welker in 2011.
Welker had 40 receptions for 616 yards and 5 touchdowns at the one-quarter mark of that season. Kamara has 275 yards and 5 touchdowns on the ground, as well as 35 receptions for 336 yards and a further score through the air. Welker finished the 2011 season with the third-most PPR points among all non-quarterbacks (334.9), behind Ray Rice (374.8) and Calvin Johnson (360.2).
