10 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets Heading Into Week 3

Following a disappointing 2014 season, Jordan Reed found himself sitting second on the Redskins depth chart at tight end behind rising talent Niles Paul. But after Paul suffered a season-ending ankle fracture in Washington's preseason opener, Reed found himself thrust back into an unlikely opportunity to showcase once again his receiving talents on this team.

And so far he's made the most of this second chance.

After leading the team in targets (11), catches (7) and finishing second in yards (62) in a Week 1 loss to the Dolphins, Reed followed this up in a Week 2 win against the Rams to lead the team in receptions and yards, catching all 6 of his targets for 82 yards.

While this may seem like an illusion when compared to his abysmal 2014 numbers -- where Reed failed to collect a touchdown despite catching 50 passes and seeing 10 red zone targets -- it's actually in line with his breakout performance in 2013 in which he flashed signs of greatness.

Prior to Reed's injury-riddled 2014 campaign, the Redkins tight end tallied a Reception NEP per target of 0.95 that was first among all those at his position with at least 50 targets.

Don't count on Reed to slow down anytime soon either. With DeSean Jackson out for the next few weeks with a strained hamstring, and, as our Associate Editor Brandon Gdula has found, with a very favorable schedule facing a slew to teams that ranked in the bottom-half of the league in pass defense according to our advanced metrics, quarterback Kirk Cousins will likely look Reed's way early and often this season.
