Defenses

High-Cost Option: Atlanta Falcons $3,400

The Falcons take on a projected starting lineup featuring Blaine Gabbert, Kendall Gaskins, Torrey Smith, Quinton Patton, and Vance McDonald. Atlanta hasn't posted a shutout since Week 15 in 2012, but I wouldn't bet against it this week. The Falcons are in a great position to jump out to an early lead and force San Francisco to become one-dimensional. Prior to the switch at Gabbert, the 49ers were allowing the second-most fantasy points to opposing defenses -- things could get ugly this week in San Francisco.

Mid-Cost Option: Denver Broncos $3,000

The Broncos have scored double digit fantasy points in six of seven games this season (nine points in the seventh game), and now take on a reeling Colts offense that has given up 10 points to opposing offenses two weeks straight. The Broncos have the second-most takeaways and the Colts have the second-most giveaways. At a cheap $3,000 pricetag, the Broncos are an affordable defense with a high probability to exceed value.

Low-Cost Option: New Orleans Saints $2,200

As mentioned earlier, the Titans are in a downward spiral and have been giving up the most fantasy points to opposing defenses this season. Prior to their defensive meltdown against the Giants last week, the Saints put up 10 and 19 points against the Colts and Falcons. Eight-point home favorites, the Saints should be able to force Zach Mettenberger into a one-dimensional offense that's already down two receivers in Kendall Wright and Harry Douglas. The basement price of $2,200 should pay itself off with a couple New Orleans sacks this week.

GPP Wildcard: Philadelphia Eagles $2,700

The Eagles have quietly scored 13.3 fantasy points over their last three outings and amassed a total of six interceptions, four fumble recoveries, and nine sacks. Coming off a bye week with extra time to figure out ways to confuse Matt Cassel even more, could lead to some disastrous results for the Dallas passing attack. Defenses playing against the Cowboys the last two weeks while Cassel was under center have averaged 13.5 fantasy points, and the Eagles should be a bit of an under the radar play this week as 2.5-point road favorites at just $2,700.
