We had Kamar Aiken as a recommended waiver wire target last week, but with the Ravens on a bye week in Week 9, Aiken remains grossly underowned given the situation he inherited resulting from the season-ending Achilles tear teammate Steve Smith suffered in Week 8.

Aiken certainly won't be able to fill Smith's shoes, but looking at the data, it's clear he hasn't been bad this season when given chances. Among 49 receivers with at least 40 targets this season, Aiken's 0.72 Reception NEP per target ranks 21st, so he's been fairly efficient with his looks. Receivers who have been, thus far, less efficient than Aiken on a per-target basis? Randall Cobb, Julio Jones, Brandon Marshall, and Julian Edelman, among others. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Aiken can hold a candle to those guys, but if he inherits a larger role, which he will, he's shown that he's been pretty decent when given the opportunity. And opportunity is half the battle in fantasy football.

Perhaps most intriguing about Aiken as a waiver wire add is the offense within which he resides. The Ravens currently sport the eight-highest pass-to-run ratio in the NFL. This shouldn't be too surprising given that the Ravens have won exactly two games and are constantly playing catch up. But it does lend evidence to the fact that Aiken's opportunity may be higher than your average number-one receiver stand-in.

If you're in need of a player who is bound to get a good number of targets each week, do what you can to get Aiken, because he'll likely provide a safe floor of points for the rest of the season.
