Karlos Williams was a hot waiver wire add earlier this season, but after going down with a concussion in Week 5, we haven't seen or heard from him since. This three-week absence presumably led to owners' becoming frustrated, and since they invested little more than a waiver claim in him to get him to begin with, many dropped him from their squads.

Well, Williams is back on this list for good reason after having torched the Dolphins for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 9 carries. But Williams got his primary opportunity to play as a result of LeSean McCoy going down with a shoulder injury which is pending an MRI. Williams has been incredibly productive when given the chance to run this season, posting a ridiculous 0.25 Rushing NEP per rush through Week 8, the best per-carry efficiency among running backs with at least 40 carries in the NFL.

If the results of McCoy's MRI indicate that he’ll miss time, then Williams should be the top waiver add of the week. But even if McCoy is able to give it a go next week, given Williams' per-carry output and permanent role as a change-of-pace back in a very run-focused offense (the Bills sport the league's ninth-lowest pass-to-run ratio through Week 8), he should be able to provide standalone value even if McCoy isn't injured. At the very least Williams serves as one of the best, if not the best, running back handcuffs to own in fantasy football given his ability and McCoy's propensity for injury this season.
