Kansas City Chiefs Rushing Offense
There has been a lot of uncertainty within the matchups this week, as is usually the case in Week 16. In most instances, that's going to be a bad thing as it clearly lowers the floor of expectations. Here, a little bit of uncertainty could be just what the doctor ordered.
This is a pretty obvious plus matchup for the Kansas City Chiefs' rushing game. They are facing the Cleveland Browns -- who rank 30th in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play -- at home with a 13.5-point advantage in Vegas. If that doesn't scream running-back heaven, then you aren't listening closely enough.
The Chiefs have been the league's second most efficient rushing offense this year, according to numberFire's metrics, and -- like the Bills -- that effectiveness stretches across all runners. In a game where they could abandon the pass early, the volume figures to be hefty here.
The ambiguity stems from the likelihood that Spencer Ware is able to see snaps again this week after his rib injury a few weeks ago. That may scare people out of using Charcandrick West, lowering his ownership below where it should potentially be. He flashed his big-play ability last week with a 38-yard touchdown scamper, and his presence in the passing game and snap share make him a solid tournament option even if Ware is fully back.
If Ware is able to practice fully this week, then I also think he at least should be on your tournament radar. We have seen how much of a presence he has near the goal line (10 red-zone carries in the three games prior to his injury), and that's a huge asset when a team figures to have as many scoring chances as the Chiefs could have on Sunday.
When Ware is healthy, he's basically Jeremy Hill without the name recognition. The only difference is that Ware is effective outside of the goal line, too. Again, make sure that he seems as if he'll be a full go this week, but if he is, then I'd make sure to have him on at least a few tournament rosters in case he's able to hit pay dirt on more than one occasion.
