Similar to Cam Newton in Carolina, this season saw Russell Wilson lead the Seahawks offense to a top 10 ranking despite a relative lack of big names at the skill positions around him.
Despite a career season from wideout Doug Baldwin and stellar play from explosive rookie Tyler Lockett -- who actually finished the regular season as the second and third most efficient receivers in the league with at least 50 targets, respectively -- Wilson has had sporadic support from the team's big offseason acquisition in Jimmy Graham and the running game.
Wilson has been asked to operate without lead tailback Marshawn Lynch for nine games this season, lost talented rookie tailback Thomas Rawls early on in Week 14 against Baltimore, and has been without Graham since he suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 12.
Yet, despite all this, Wilson has led a team that ranks third in passing efficiency and sixth in rushing efficiency according to our advanced NEP metrics, putting up the fourth most points in the league (423) this season. Not too shabby for a non-elite "system" quarterback.
