2. Tom Brady, 2007

In 2007, Tom Brady accumulated 259.40 Passing NEP, the second-best total since 2000 and an incredible 99.29 points higher than his nearest competitor that season, Peyton Manning. Of the 31 quarterbacks who dropped back to pass at least 250 times in 2007, 13 finished the year with negative Passing NEP.

The Patriots, behind Brady's massive season, finished the regular season 16-0, but lost to the New York Giants in the Super Bowl. Most Patriots fans remember Eli Manning spinning out of a what appeared to be a sure sack to heave up a desperation throw to David Tyree, who somehow caught the ball with one hand and his helmet despite Rodney Harrison trying to rip the ball loose with less than a minute to go in the fourth quarter. Manning eventually tossed a 13-yard touchdown to Plaxico Burress that denied the Patriots their perfect season.

Brady's 0.43 Passing NEP per drop back is tied for the second-best mark since 2000 and was 0.13 points higher than his nearest competitor in 2007. He finished the season 0.38 points higher than league average. His 58.93 percent Success Rate that season is the best since 2000.
