Plugging the Gaps: IDP Waiver Wire for Week 15
Brian Orakpo, Outside Linebacker
We’ve recommended Tennessee Titans outside linebacker Brian Orakpo twice this season already, but for some unknown reason fantasy teams are not realizing the potential of this dangerous sack artist and stuff machine. Orakpo has put up 10 sacks across 13 games this season already, for a 12th-ranked sack rate among the 41 3-4 outside linebackers to play at least 30 snaps per game this year. His 14th-best quarterback hit rate is equally impressive, and he also has generated 11 stuffs this year.
That means that big plays are always possible for Orakpo, and the Kansas City Chiefs present a solid matchup for him. KC has a balanced offense, ranking 15th in pass-to-run play calling ratio, which presents equal opportunity for Orakpo to rush the passer and stuff the run. They also come in allowing the 13th-highest sack rate in the league, but the 13th-lowest stuff rate. There’s a low floor for Orakpo, but an immense ceiling. He’s worth a shoot-for-the-moon look in your fantasy playoffs.
Orakpo is available in 98.4% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project him for 4.62 tackles, 0.84 sacks, 0.30 passes defended, and a total score of 7.52 fantasy points in Week 15.
