Ramik Wilson, Inside Linebacker

Injuries are an unfortunate part of the game we love. I wasn’t the best at science in school, but even I remember from physics that immense forces on objects have to go somewhere. Unfortunately for fantasy players (and he himself), physics forces landed Kansas City Chiefs inside linebacker Derrick Johnson on injured reserve with a ruptured Achilles’ tendon. Still, that opens up opportunity for run-stopper Ramik Wilson to step into the starting lineup and do some work.

Wilson has played just a total of 336 snaps this season, having been released and then re-signed by the Chiefs earlier this year. Still, he’s been a tackle maven like the veteran Johnson, racking up a 15 percent tackle rate that comes in fifth-best among the 40 qualifying inside linebackers who play in a 3-4 (seventh among 59 inside linebackers in all schemes). Wilson is not into big-plays, though; his two stuffs are his only big-plays.

That will be just fine for his production against the Tennessee Titans this week, however. Tennessee is the second-most run-heavy team by both play calling ratio and raw rushing attempts, which will allow Wilson a bundle of tackle chances this week. Pivoting after injuries is crucial, and Wilson is a crucial add for any IDP team.

Wilson is available in 99.2% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project him for 5.86 tackles, 0.00 sacks, 0.14 passes defended, and a total score of 6.12 fantasy points in Week 15.
