3. Buccaneers Trade Up for Derrick Brooks in '95 Draft

AV Differential: 192

In 1995, the Dallas Cowboys did their part to help the Buccaneers become a defensive juggernaut for years to come, trading their 28th overall pick to Tampa Bay in exchange for the 41st and 63rd overall picks in the second round.

With their two second-rounders, the Cowboys drafted defensive back Ron Davis (who they subsequently traded) and offensive lineman Shane Hannah. Davis played one year in Atlanta and yielded an AV of 2, while Hannah never played a single game in the NFL due to both injury and behavioral issues.

The Cowboys had to be disappointed with the outcome of the trade, but the Bucs were anything but. In the latter stages of the first round, Tampa Bay brought on Florida State linebacker Derrick Brooks -- and it didn't take long for him to prove worthy of the high draft price.

After two okay seasons, Brooks turned it on at the age of 24. From then on, Brooks earned an AV of 10 or better in 10 straight seasons, during which he was voted All-Pro four times and to the Pro Bowl 10 times. He finished his Hall of Fame career with an AV of 194 in 14 seasons with Tampa, the team with which he'd win a Super Bowl in 2002.
