Kansas City Chiefs - Chad Henne

Cap Savings: $1.55 million

Dead Money: $2.55 million

The Kansas City Chiefs are blessed with an abundance of young talent on their roster, with two of their most important players -- Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill -- still on their rookie deals. There is not an awful lot of chaff that needs weeding, but one spot where they could look to save some coin is behind Mahomes.

Chad Henne is signed for $2.5 million in 2019, $1 million of which is guaranteed. While cutting him would leave $2.5 million in dead money, KC coach Andy Reid has shown over his career that he is prepared to draft young quarterbacks late in the draft and allow them to learn the system (while potentially wangling a draft pick or two out of a team later. I’m looking at you, A.J. Feeley).

Henne has been a solid professional in his career, but let’s be honest -- he is replaceable, especially with KC set under center. If Mahomes were to be missing for any length of time, the Chiefs' offense would likely suffer greatly if Henne had to play. It may as well suffer behind a younger, cheaper quarterback.
